Fun and engaging look at Gouda

Suzanne is a great guide. She spent a little time at the beginning to get our small group (3 couples) to warm up and engage with her and each other. Suzanne provided historical context but also took us off the beaten path--through narrow alleyways and off the main streets. We saw house boats at the wharf, plenty of local cats, and talked with the resident of one of the windmills. It was a delightful experience. After the tour, we went to some of the places Suzanne recommended and enjoyed a beer in the shadow of Sint-Janskerk. It is a very memorable day. We take a walking tour in every city we visit and this was a particularly fun experience.

I highly recommend this tour. Suzanne was very friendly, and took extra time to show us interesting places, many of which we would have never known by ourselves. The pace was relaxed, but with lots of information.

Suzanne was an amazing guide! She was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. The tour felt like walking around the city with a local friend who genuinely loves sharing about Gouda. She showed us places I would have completely missed on my own, from hidden courtyards and charming alleyways to fascinating stories behind the canals, and the city’s famous landmarks. She also shared plenty of fun facts, local recommendations, and answered everyone’s questions with enthusiasm. The pace was relaxed, there were lots of opportunities to take photos, and the two hours flew by. I left with a much deeper appreciation for Gouda beyond its famous cheese. If you’re visiting Gouda, I highly recommend joining Suzanne’s walking tour. It’s one of the best ways to experience the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems.
