Great tour with Jose!

The guided tour with Jose was highly recommended. Jose is a very well-organised and professional guide who places great importance on helping his participants get to know Coimbra better. He does this in a relaxed and humorous manner, which helps to create a good atmosphere within the group. He answers questions confidently and strikes a good balance between historical background and current issues affecting the city. I would book a city tour with him again in a heartbeat.

Great tour, great guide!

We were lucky to choose Jose's 2.5-hour free walking tour for our city tour. He has lived in Coimbra for 20 years and knows the city inside out. He also had genuine stories about the university and explained some of its traditions, for example the origin of the academic dress. This felt especially authentic, since he is a graduate of the University of Coimbra himself. For those who have never done a free walking tour: the tour isn't really "free". At the end, everyone pays what they felt the tour was worth. I've joined many free walking tours, and this is a common misunderstanding, which is completely understandable. The tour was in English and easy to follow at all times. Thanks to the audio devices Jose provides, you can stop for a photo here and there and still keep listening to his stories. The walking pace suits all ages. We had a toddler with us and had no trouble keeping up. We can wholeheartedly recommend Jose.
